Pregnancy & Birth
Pregnancy can be a joyful time; however, there are aspects of pregnancy that may make it more challenging. Pregnancy often marks a period of change and adjustment; understandably, this can lead to anxiety or fluctuations in mood. This is to be expected; however, for some, these feelings can be more persistent or start to interfere with everyday life. We are experienced in supporting women with perinatal anxiety and depression, using bespoke approaches to help reduce and manage these experiences so you can focus on yourself and your baby.
Maternal and Fetal Health
At the London Perinatal Clinic, our clinicians are experienced in working with women who are experiencing complexity in their pregnancies. We understand that having additional medical needs for yourself or your unborn baby can be an extremely anxiety-provoking and confusing time. We can work alongside you to help with coping and connect with your medical team to create a holistic care package if required.
We have experience in working with women experiencing hyperemesis, gestational diabetes, flare-ups in pre-existing conditions, cancer in pregnancy, risk of pre-term labour, and many more. We are also highly experienced in working with women whose babies have been diagnosed in the womb with potential health needs, including congenital cardiac conditions, any fetal anomalies, genetic or chromosomal conditions, and babies likely to require specialist care post-birth.
Birth
Birth can often be a focus of pregnancy, an endpoint for which many women have hopes or goals for. At the London Perinatal Clinic, we support women to aim for the birth they wish to have and can connect clients with other professionals to support this further. However, we also aim to promote safe and flexible birth plans, which provide a scaffold for women to feel empowered whatever birth they have. Birth can be unpredictable, and flexibility from the outset can often enable healthy processing should the birth not go to plan. We are always happy to liaise with obstetricians and midwives to advocate for your preferred birth and to support your mental wellbeing.
For some women, birth can be extremely anxiety-provoking, and a phobia of birth is known as tokophobia. We offer evidence-based treatments for this to work towards a safe and healthy birth.
